TV & Movie Character Tailgate - Come as your favorite TV or movie character!

Just a mid-week follow-up on the Troy game/tailgater. For anyone interested, this is our come as your favorite TV/Movie character theme. Since it is a 3 PM kick, people can arrive anytime after 8am. Brad Dunlap is going to get a 5 Gallon Busch lite keg and we will have a few other types on hand, lots of Coors lite…as a test for whether 5-gallon kegs is a better way for our group to go (save money, less can cleanup, etc). We really did a number on the beer last week!

 

We have families from the “Why We Wave Foundation” coming. As I mentioned, Brian Wood was kind enough to donate about 50 frozen hot dogs and I will get some brats to match and Jeff Z gave me some seed money to get some nice prizes for the raffle. We will do a raffle with a couple of prizes, and the proceeds will support the “Why We Wave Foundation”…Here is the email I got from Ashley Hall, who is organizing this nice event for families affected by pediatric cancer.

 

"Hello Steve!

 

Thank you so much for opening up your tailgate to our families.

 

I want to apologize that this email is coming only days away from the tailgate. Cancer is only one letter off of the word cancel, and we have had families have to cancel.

For every cancellation, we have had another family able to go, so we are now at 79 total families coming to this weekend's game!

 

I have had 30 families, totalling 158 sign up to pair up with a tailgate. (I agreed to host 40-50 people)

 

If you could please reply to my email with the number of people you would like to host, and where about on this map you are located, I will get you paired up for the day and provide the group with your email contact information to allow for communication if anything changes with their plans for the day. I will then confirm your guest totals via email as well. 

 

Many have asked if you would like them to bring something for the tailgate, how they should pack etc. Please let me know of any specifics on that side so I can prepare them accordingly.

 

Our group is going to be dropped off near the Marriot. Most families do have children, so if your tailgate is a little further of a distance, I will do my best to pair up our families with an older crew that may be able to walk a little distance.

 

Thank you again for your willingness to be a part of such a huge day for so many families. I cannot describe the excitement they have. I think the best part of the tailgating opportunity is giving these kids fun memories of Iowa City!
